Both of us worked at GE Capital in Barrington, Illinois for several years before actually meeting each other.  It wasn’t until June 6, 1990, at a company outing, that we officially met… and fell in love.  The evening began with a dinner cruise on the Fox River celebrating the accomplishments of our department with fellow employees.  The evening was capped off with drinks and dancing at Kristoff’s in Round Lake.  Early in the evening Heidi asked Rick to dance and he obliged.  Neither one of us can remember the song we danced to because somehow the world around us melted away during that dance… and as far as we know we were the only two people on the dance floor.  It was the beginning of a very close, deep and loving relationship.  We had found in each other our soul mate.  However, circumstances pulled us in separate directions, and although physically apart our hearts remained connected.  We stayed in touch with each other off and on over the years mainly with cordial communications updating each other on how wonderful our lives were at the moment… Until one day the stars aligned – our current relationships were failing and we began to confide in each other, as soul mates would.  It wasn’t long before we realized (or rather admitted) that our feelings for each other were as strong as they were over 20 years ago…
Heidi moved to Boulder on October 5, 2012.  We have been inseparable ever since.  Twenty-three years after that first dance, we are becoming husband and wife… We’d say it will be the happiest day of our lives, but the truth is, ever day we are together is the happiest day of our lives.
